How to find us
By public transport take a tube to Archway
or Finsbury Park. From either take a 210 bus and ask the driver to put you
off at the Hanley Road/ Hornsey Road junction (bus stops just before the
junction in both directions) or the closed Hornsey Rd Job Centre. We
are a small shop located next door to the pub (curently called
The Blarney Stone but has had the following
names since we opened The Railway 'Hotel', The Saltbar and All Points
West) opposite the job centre (now closed) at a set of traffic
lights. Bus route 91 also passes the shop. Buses W7 and 41 pass about 10
minutes walk away. Mainline Gospal Oak - Barking passes by but the nearest
stations are 15 minute walk from either Holloway Road or Crouch Hill (or
bus 210 2 stops).
By road from the north take the A1 to
Archway. As you pass down the hill towards Archway watch for the speed
camera and don't come down the bus lane (Also has cameras). At the bottom
of the hill there will be some traffic lights on a kind of roundabout with
pub and shops in the middle. Take the first left exit and travel to
the end of the road ( watch out for the sharp double bend). Then take a
right turn and again to the end of the road. You should now see some shops
and a park, go right at this junction onto Hornsey road. Travel past the
main shops to the next set of lights, we are located to the left just
before the lights. The junction is Hanley Rd. If approaching from the
South travel North from the NEW ARSENAL EMIRITES STADIUM and we are the
opposite end of the street.
PARKING
From 7th November 2005 some local streets
have adopted controlled residents parking. By far the best parking
solution is to park in Hanley Road on the pay and display spaces provided
just a few yards from the shop on both sides of the road (plenty of empty
spaces). The charge is 20p for every 10 minutes you stay so 40p will be
enough for most customers, in exchange for either your ticket (at end of
your parking) or the receipt stub I am happy in most cases refunding this
cost against any goods purchased over the value of £20 for the time spent
in my shop i.e. if you go to the cafe for 1hr we will not be refunding
this portion of your parking. Do Not Park on the one disabled bay unless
you are permitted to do so- vehicles are lifted by the council at regular
intervals.
Parking is still free in some surounding
residential streets. Spears Road used to have plenty of spaces but much
harder to find spaces since controlled parking in the neighbouring streets
came in, Spears Rd is 2nd on left before the shop if approaching from the
North (At the end of the first group of shops). If you are not
familiar with London do not attempt to stop on red lines around Archway
not even for a cashpoint- your car will be gone in minutes and it will
cost a lot of money to get it back. Outside the shop are yellow lines,
wardens visit here seemingly at random sometimes with clamps or removal
units so you park here at your own risk. Congestion charge does
not yet apply here.
As you can see the shop is
quite small next to the pub
so don't drive too fast or you
will miss us!
